The 2019 Bow Seat Yearbook features the visual art, poetry, prose, film, and music winners of the 2019 Ocean Awareness Contest. Each year, the Contest invites students from around the world to explore the connections between human activities and the health of our ocean, with a focus on humans’ roles as both problem-makers and solvers.
The pieces featured in this Yearbook address the 2019 Contest theme “Presence of Future,” which challenged participants to create a piece about a coastal or marine species, place, or system that will be threatened, altered, or lost due to climate change. These works represent the most inspiring, thoughtful, and provocative of the 3,500+ submissions received from 70 countries around the world.
