Reflection
In my piece, “Mother Nature’s Embrace”, I personify nature as a fluid and maternal being, giving life and nurturing to one and all. By accentuating the details and tones of the water using colored pencils, I depict Mother Nature as a guardian and draw attention to the tenderness of her aqueous caress. Indeed, water is the precious lifeblood of natural and human existence, and striking a deep, harmonious relationship with nature is key to nourishing our roots and thriving as a civilization. When I was first brainstorming about this competition, the first thing that I thought of was that water is the mother of everything, having the power to purify and heal. I also wanted to describe water as a holy figure, and the Virgin Maria statue came up in my mind. Water was like the mother to me–even though humans do not recognize the importance of water, water is keeps doing its own work, taking care of humans.
