Reflection

Jean Wiener is an environmental hero from Haiti who has dedicated his life to improving its marine ecosystem. I was impressed by the range of activities he partakes in for the cause, such as cleaning beaches, planting saplings, educating others, and more. Through these initiatives, he actively involves local communities and encourages them to move to sustainability and work towards a greener future. In my piece, I wanted to explore the idea of a superhero comic book cover depicting Jean Wiener as the Climate Warrior who saves our planet. To highlight his achievements, I have made references to the environmental prize he has won and the organisation that he founded. My piece is set in the dense mangrove forests of Haiti, surrounded by thriving wildlife reflecting his various areas of involvement. I believe that the climate crisis will become the existential threat for humanity and the purpose of my submission is to shed light on the heroes who are doing their part to prevent this. Hopefully, this will inspire others to become heroes themselves.
