Reflection

My creative process started with doing some research on climate change to identify the main topic that I wanted to focus on, which is how climate change negatively affects our wildlife. I am passionate about this topic specifically because animals have no voice, and their destiny lies solely in the behaviour and ramifications of human beings. Once I had my topic, the next step was to find the right music. I wanted to be sure to capture the sentiment that even in times of struggle and change there is hope for a better future. Once I had the perfect piece of music, it was time to assemble the choreography. My process was to play the song and immerse myself in the emotions that the music drew from me. The next step was to create a written piece that would help to tell my story. I tied this back to my research about specifically how climate change affects wildlife in so many different ways. I then sourced supplemental videos to partner with the poem. I wanted to have stimulating imagery that really helped to evoke the feeling of the overall piece. Through my creative exploration, I was impacted by how climate change has such a significant impact on animals. I learned how it can affect all creatures from tiny organisms in the sea to large mammals who are forced to adapt hibernation patterns.
