As climate change occurs, the world suffers.
When fossil fuels burn, the world cries
When fossil fuels burn, the seas rise
When fossil fuels burn, the ozone layer dies
When fossil fuels burn, the acid rain arrives
When fossil fuels burn, air pollution multiplies
When fossil fuels burn, water pollution thrives
When the trees fall, the earth falls
When the trees fall, the water cycle stalls
When the trees fall, the carbon dioxide befalls
When the trees fall, oxygen withdrawals
When the trees fall, the atmosphere dissolves
When the trees fall, albedo sprawls
When agriculture grows, urbanization grows
When agriculture grows, soil degradation shows
When agriculture grows, biomass burning glows
When agriculture grows, soil carbon lows
When agriculture grows, methane from plant cultivation blows
When agriculture grows, gas emissions flows
When overfishing proceeds, marine life depletion proceeds
When overfishing proceeds, blue carbon excretes
When overfishing proceeds, habitat modification exceeds
When overfishing proceeds, ocean acidification leads
When overfishing proceeds, fuel emissions head
When overfishing proceeds, ecosystem degradation succeeds
Reflection
Climate change has affected the world in unspeakable ways. My wanting to learn more about climate change and what causes it has inspired my work. The feelings that the process of creating a poem raised for me were passion because I got to express myself to the fullest and dread because of how dreadful the topic of climate change is. My message to the viewers of my poem is to be aware of the damage climate change is doing to the world and to us. After doing research on climate change I have learned that climate change has multiple contributors and climate change has multiple effects so overall climate change is a major concern to the health of the Earth. Actions that I would collectively engage in my community to tackle climate change would be starting fundraisers to reduce the contributions of climate change.
