Reflection
This song is an amalgamation of past ideas with my research of the oceanic effects of climate change. I wanted bold lyrics that could describe just how much we rely on the ocean. As well as soul filled instrumentals and solos to really complete the track. From the food we eat to the air we breathe, the ocean is one of our most precious resources. Rapidly melting ice caps, changing weather patterns, and the deaths of numerous species can no longer be ignored. I find it very inspiring that a contest such as this is even available, spreading the word. Sadly not everybody can see that, and we are left to pick up the pieces. Researching this environmental problem for lyrical inspiration has really opened my eyes on just how bad things are getting. I decided against creating a song that is depressing and doubtful about the future. Instead I wanted to make a statement that it is a choice that's on us for our future. Things can change, as we are the masters of our own destiny. People are out there making the difference. I feel as though I can inspire as much meaning as any five page essay through a song. I had a very fun time making this project, and really pushing myself to make a interesting yet thought provoking song. I combined musical pieces I wrote over the past three years to put this together. A huge thanks goes to my friend Autumn for singing on this track.
