Reflection
My creative process involved using watercolor. First, I used pencil to sketch out what my idea was. Then, I added some details to it. I think hopes are hidden behind pollution, just like a vision of beauty and hope is hidden behind the window in my piece. After sketching, I used color to represent the hopeful side, and black and white for the hopelessness. The hope comes from those who want to make a change to our sick environment. The process of creating this piece made me feel disillusioned about human solutions to environmental issues, but I also feel glad that the world is changing. The message to viewers of my artwork is that our environment will gradually heal. Through the Ocean Awareness Contest, I learned that the garbage we throw away every day or the pollutants discharged into the sea will cause great harm to the creatures in the ocean and even to humans themselves. By studying the climate crisis, I learned that the Arctic glaciers are melting and many polar bears are losing their homes. We must put an end to our damaging activities and begin appreciating the world again for its beauty.
