Reflection
In my piece, I wanted to show how the actions of people can change the fate of the oceans with which we are all connected. Each person and their “actions” are done in blue and green, which are the colors found in our oceans. These colors promote the idea that the actions of teaching youth, taking different transportation methods, harnessing various energy sources, doing research, passing legislature, and learning to explore will all positively affect the state of our oceans in a time when its future is uncertain. All of the actions depicted within this piece are meant to bring to light the message that everyone can do something to combat this climate crisis. In doing research on this crisis, I realized that there are countless outlets for people to be involved with, more even than were depicted within my artwork, which means that there is something everyone can do to change the fate of the oceans we rely so heavily on. Those working in careers that contribute to climate change have just as much power as those who have little time to spare if everyone takes time to find one small thing that they can do to create a better, greener tomorrow. After having learned about these solutions, it has inspired me to continue to use my art as a platform for spreading messages about how to protect the environment because images can help inspire others just as much as words can.
