For this project, I had the idea to reuse old materials like sheets, shirts, rags, and fabric scraps and turn them into a public statement about climate change. This not only furthers my message but inspires other people to turn their old things into something new. In this tapestry, a girl is shown looking up at the world while talking on the phone. She's calling for help—for a new future with clean seas and water conservation efforts. My piece is a call to action for society to wake up and start making "waves" in the world. I used lots of bright colors to inspire people that there is a brighter future ahead if we all take action in protecting our oceans and our environment. After probably 100 hours of cutting, stitching, and gluing, my tapestry shines brightly inspiring hope and change for everyone who sees it.
