The Idea

A scientist observes screens showing digital maps while giant shrimp-like creatures emerge from the ocean at sunset.

Comic strip showing a person watching TV as fish swim around them. The person interacts with the fish, and one jumps into a bowl, while others swim near a screen.

Reflection

The idea of integrating robots into human life inspired me to create this short story. Many people talk about how much it would help us in everyday life, but robots are something more than just helpers in the household. I am interested in ethology, so I was attracted by this thought: What if schooling fish that live in areas polluted by humans and that are unable to migrate on their own would take identical robots for their relatives? These human-trained robots would be brought into schools and, under human control, would lead fish to a safe area suitable for them biologically and climatically. Humanity is already putting a lot of effort into developing an environmentally friendly industry, but such changes cannot happen quickly. I am not a scientist, so I understand that in my concept there are a lot of nuances and flaws. For example, several local ecosystems might be affected at once, and creating realistic fish robots with independent behavior would be difficult. Still, I am a dreamer and this is my Idea. I want to be heard.
