Reflection

It angers me that I live in a world where we are too worried about whether our swimming pool is going to be too hot or too cold, or if the water has a weird taste while there are children out there who do not have these luxuries. I began to research ideas and images of underdeveloped countries that do not have clean, reliable water. The lack of clean water is one of the major reasons these kids are not healthy and often contract water-borne diseases. The photographs of the children and the extremely dry, parched, cracked land just flipped a switch in my head to take my art to a different perspective. My message to viewers is to focus on something as simple as a faucet, and how this one tool can provide hope and change to an entire community. I focused on the dry, dusty colors to emphasize the despair, and the touches of blue to bring the hope of water.
