The Traumatizing Reality of the Ocean
Sabella Howard and Vivi Deken
Republic, MO
2021, Junior, Performing Arts

Reflection

We hope that people who watch the dance are able to feel empathy for the ocean. Every move we made was with a purpose to spread awareness. The sudden flowy movements show why we are attempting to save this beloved water and its beauty. Any hard, sharper movement shows the agony that the ocean has to deal with because of us. The slow drawn-out dance moves represent how we are dealing with the problems. This work was very much inspired by the traumatizing realization of how little time we have left to save our ocean. Dance is a way that we can show how we feel without using our words.
