Black & Blue

Are you fine? Or are you calling out to save you (save you)
How many more times can we poison you?
You’re not safe, and sound, or calm. You are sad.
Cause forever young is not an option anymore.
Yet you gave us breath
You gave us gold
You gave us life
You set our path
What a bounty you were
They robbed you in an acid storm
They stole your innocent lives
And beat you black and blue
What a beauty you were
We laugh when you cry
Leave our detriments with you
Now you’re black not blue
Can’t recall, a time where you’ve been happy
But our old happy always lies with you
Rarely see, when news has claimed you healthy
But never had we ever shed a tear
Yet you gave us memories
You connected us
You gave us life
You set our path
What a bounty you were
They robbed you in an acid storm
They stole your innocent lives
And beat you black and blue
What a beauty you were
We laugh when you cry
Leave our detriments with you
Now you’re black not blue
What a bounty you were
They stole your innocent lives
Leave our detriments with you
Now you’re black not blue

The ocean connects us. We are all living organisms, and without water, there would be no life. Throughout history, water gave people the ability to travel to different parts of the Earth, the possibility for a global economy. Water influenced so many different cultures, gave us memories, and gave us the possibility to experience so many beautiful things in life. That was my inspiration for creating this song. It is an ode to the ocean, acknowledging what it’s done for us, and how much we all owe it. I felt quite melancholy writing the song, but in addition to that, also shock. Because learning about the harm we've done to the ocean, it is very saddening. I feel that everybody should have that shock, so we can all start seeing the importance of truly helping the ocean.
