Reflection

Dr. Joanne Chory’s goal is to one day have the full ability to genetically adapt plants to fit our ever-growing climate needs. As I created this film, I drew inspiration from the science behind Chory’s work – it doesn’t get much more fun than plant genetics! I also became inspired by Chory’s fun-loving personality that she displayed through the sources that I analyzed. I’ll reflect on Chory’s fighting spirit, and I’ll use those reflections to further our positive impact on the environment. After all, this climate change hero makes me feel supported in my walk of handling environmental issues. She makes me feel known, like my voice finally heard. What’s really amazing is that she’s using one of my favorite branches of science, genetics, to help solve our climate crisis. This makes me hopeful for our future, because I know that because of experts like Joanne Chory, a better environment is right around the corner.
