Reflection
Despite how commonplace plastic objects have become in our lives, it is important to acknowledge and address the amount of harm that they have caused to both marine and human life. While it is important to think about the journey that plastic bottles take to get to us, it is also important to consider the journey they take after we’re done with them. Through my artwork, I hope to encourage others to start thinking sustainably. By limiting our use of single-use plastics, and increasing our use of the recycling system, we have a chance at making a difference for our oceans and the animals living within it. Although recycling has its chemical and material limitations, it is an entirely plausible solution when it comes to eliminating the amount of plastic waste that is being expelled into the ocean. Personally, I plan on doing my part by making a larger effort to avoid using plastic items on a daily basis as well as recycling more often.
