I started taking art classes when I was six, and I really enjoyed the time when drawing and painting. The experiences I had been through inspired my work and creative process. This work, in particular, was inspired by a conversation in my world history class when we learned about the Industrial Revolution. During this time period, machines are widely used. Humans began burning fossil fuels and released other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Now days, the situation hasn't been fixed but got even worse. And we can see bigger changes are happening to our world, especially pollution, such as water, land, and air. During the research, I learned the shocking fact that approximately 7 million per year due to air pollution (Ourworldindata). This is the reason why I created this piece, “A Polluted World”. The background in black and white is what I think Earth would look like after years if we don’t solve the issue of climate change. In the center, a playground is depicted in a wishing bottle. Representing a world I wish to have; happy and vibrant like how the Earth used to be.
