In present day, beaches are the ideal place to be for many people during the warm weather. Many enjoy snacks and drinks with their friends while soaking in the sun-rays. It’s a great way to bond with others, but how much longer will this last? So many people who are caught up in their beach fun forget to pick up all of their trash which has caused some major issues for our beautiful earth. The oceans and beaches are becoming more and more contaminated with our plastic waste. Not only does this make the beach look unappealing to go to, its harmful to the environment. This is already happening and is predicted to just get worse. So many animals are consuming and getting caught in plastics which ultimately causes their death. In my artwork I tried to express this in a before-and-after view by incorporating a recent photograph I took and surrounding it in a big piece of plastic that was actually found on a beach in my area. On the outside of the photograph that looks framed with the plastic, I painted what I predict the majority of our beaches will look in future years by gluing more plastics found on an actual beach to my painting. Beaches are already becoming covered with our waste in the way I depicted it and it’s time to make a change before it spreads to all of them. Recycle your trash and help clean up our beaches. It starts with us.
