Reflection

In my illustration, I chose to depict a family of penguins enjoying summertime vacation activities - such as lounging under a palm tree, sipping a pina colada from a coconut, and jumping onto floaties - in the style of a typical 1950s travel postcard. In doing so, I hope to evoke feelings of nostalgia related to family beach vacations, creating a strong association to a tropical climate. I wish for the audience to realize the true severity of climate change through this “look into the future,” and wonder what the rest of the world may look like if one of the coldest places on earth is now at the same climate as a tropical beach.
