Reflection

For my video, I wanted to incorporate something that for me holds the same level of passion as the ocean - dancing. Using dance, I felt that I could truly show how important the issue of climate change is, and hopefully reach the emotions of the viewers who watch my video. I chose sea ice as my topic, not only because it’s very instrumental to how climate change affects the ocean, but also because it’s an issue that occurs close to my home state of Alaska. Also, I think the melting of sea ice is very important since it affects many things, including methane levels, sea currents, marine life, and the lives of Alaska Natives. I want people to recognize that even if some of these things don’t directly affect them, there are always other consequences of climate change that will. Each video in my film was taken in Alaska, and I hope that by staying true to what I love, I have been able to inspire people to learn about the many ways climate change poses a danger to marine life and the ocean itself.
