Reflection

Ocean pollution has been a major problem for the past few decades since the oceans hold about 97% of Earth’s water. This painting I did includes several different aspects of the issue. I was determined to show the relationship between the sea, environment, weather, and humans. Humans and the earth are closely bound together, the whitened corals represent coral bleaching, and it is slowing infecting the human by using it as a host. Behind the man, the ghost shark is a symbol of death. It is scarred and killed by humans, as well as global warming. I chose to paint an iceberg instead of the man’s body to show further relation between humans and the hydrosphere. The man is a part of the ice while it is cracking and sinking. I hope my painting will inspire more people, and raise awareness.
