My original “Australia’s Reef,” is both a message and a cry for help. From a broad category, coral reefs stood out the most because there is one transparent similarity to our land. If we were to identify a coral reef as a city, then it’s very clear we are going through the same process, except currently, it’s a lot easier for us. Climate change has affected so much that our planet has to offer. This is a message to those who contribute to a decrease in coral reef population, and it is a cry for help from coral reefs to you. It’s written in a first person point of view because I want viewers to understand the extremity of the situation if any one of us were put in its shoes. Not only did I create a piece on the effects of climate change to coral reefs, but I also included alternatives as to why coral reef population has been declining. I wanted to write something that not only was going to be creative, but also to grasp the attention of the listener. This isn’t just a lullaby to sing along to, and it isn’t a song for someone to express sympathy, but it’s more of a notice to take action before an entire species goes extinct.
