Reflection
We chose to deliver the devastating effects of climate change (food scarcity, floods, hurricanes, loss of habitats, etc.) in a deadpan manner, in which the unusual pairing seems whimsical and amusing. We expanded on this principle by demonstrating the natural phenomenons in a miniature simulation, one that is in a plastic container equipped with figurines and toy cars, one that is comparable to the scenes seen in children’s science shows, one that can uplift the devastating natures of these disasters and make it more digestible for our audience. Our film also had an overarching irony that is analogous to our real world. Our main subject, Ms.Bezuki, escapes her imprisonment just to find out that she was the main culprit for her ultimate demise, just as how we humans will inevitably become our own species’ killers, unless we change our current ways. Through this film, we hope to inform our audience of the consequences of climate change in a way that isn’t forceful but rather enjoyable, and also to urge them into taking actions necessary to prevent these consequences from continuing.
