Reflection
To start this project, I spent a lot of time reflecting on how climate change affects me as an American and as a California resident in different aspects. Everything from wildfires to hurricanes and contaminated water were all part of my thought process when envisioning this motion graphics documentary. I took inspiration from various California scenery for parts of the film to draw them out by hand, depicting the beautiful nature of my place of residence in all its glory. The longest part of the project and arguably the hardest was finding source material. I dug through countless royalty free image and video sources as well as footage from drones and news channels for content for my documentary. I combined these with images, footage, and drawings produced myself. Through this contest, I learned a lot not only about myself but also my environment. It inspired me to become a more productive member of society and care for my surroundings. As I told my climate story, I realized the power of my voice and my own story as well as everyone else's stories in preserving our landscape.
