Reflection

The piece was inspired by the astonishing works of Boyan Slat, a Dutch inventor and the founder of The Ocean Cleanup, a non-profitable organization that develops technologies to effectively remove ocean plastic. After seeing a news article on the inventor, I was amazed by how his invention functioned to eliminate plastic from the water, a problem that has harmfully impacted the earth for several decades. In my work, I illustrate the extent to which plastic pollution has affected marine life and contributed to climate change. Yet at the same time, I included a lasting hope that is sweeping away the plastic debris and restoring the ocean's environment back to its original state.
