Climate change refers to long-term changes in temperature and weather patterns. These changes occur spontaneously, but since the 1800s climate change has largely been the result of human action. This is mainly due to the burning of fossil fuels (such as coal, oil and gas), which generate greenhouse gases. Burning fossil fuels releases greenhouse gases that look like a blanket over the planet. The heat from the sun therefore does not escape and causes the temperature to rise. The greenhouse gases responsible for climate change are carbon dioxide and methane. These gases arise from using fuel to drive cars or burning coal to heat buildings, for example. Carbon dioxide emissions as well, landfills are a large source of methane. Energy, industry, transportation, building, agriculture. And land use is one of the main contributors to emissions.
