Reflection
I chose to record a music video for my fourth quarter project primarily because singing is one of my passions. I also enjoy writing parodies of songs, so taking the approach I did to this project made it all the more fun for me and gave me a chance to do something original. I especially enjoyed writing this parody of “Let It Be” because it enabled me to convey the succinct yet powerful message for my listeners to simply do their part and clean the sea. Not to mention: I love the Beatles and was thrilled that this message fit so well into the tune of “Let It Be.” In the video itself, I decided to make the recording look fairly similar to the music video of “Let It Be.” As Paul McCartney was in that video, I was sitting at a piano singing into the camera and was dressed in a white shirt and black jacket. However, I added my own fun twist by having Matt, the videographer, drop plastic trash on me while I sang to signify the inconvenience that marine pollution can be for coastal organisms. Obviously, the lyrics of the song were centered around the problems that plastics in the ocean pose for marine organisms and the ways in which humans can help.
