Polar bears and penguins aren't the only arctic animals being affected by climate change and the melting of ice. Arctic foxes are also affected. As the ice melts and the temperature rises, it brings red foxes up north, and violence between the two foxes takes place as they fight for territory. Red foxes are usually dominant over arctic foxes, sometimes even eating them. In my painting, I depicted these threats to the survival of arctic foxes, along with the stranded penguin on the small pieces of ice floating among the vast ocean. The red fox and the arctic fox are separated by a cracking wall of ice, soon to be broken. The grass extending into the arctic scene represents the changing temperatures. I chose to focus on arctic foxes because they are constantly overlooked, and in danger because of climate change.
