Reflection

As cities continue to expand rapidly, I started to wonder: where does nature go? The more we build, the more nature seems to be pushed aside—sometimes completely forgotten. That concern became the starting point for this piece, where I wanted to explore how cities and nature might relate in a more balanced, meaningful way. Rather than seeing nature and urban growth as forces in conflict, I imagined them as partners—capable of growing together. In my artwork, a massive tree surrounds the city, not to overwhelm or destroy it, but to quietly embrace it. I wanted to depict a future where nature isn’t pushed out or hidden, but allowed to coexist and breathe alongside the city. The relationship is not about dominance, but about mutual respect and harmony. I created the piece using digital painting. I’ve always been interested in concept art and science fiction worldbuilding, and I enjoy imagining what future cities might look like. This time, I used that same curiosity to visualize a world where cities and nature are not separate, but deeply integrated. Exploring the theme “Connections to Nature: Looking Inside, Going Outside” helped me realize that nature isn’t just something outside of us—it’s something we’re part of. Real progress doesn’t mean pushing nature away. It means growing with it. Through this artwork, I hope to offer a vision where cities and nature don’t compete, but coexist—and remind us that we’re not apart from nature, but always connected to it.
