Reflection

While creating my piece, I at first encountered some obstacles as I was trying to figure out what medium to use to convey my message. I wanted to raise awareness about coral bleaching in a way that may reach more people, even those who tend to stray away from science heavy videos. I finally landed on the idea of doing a cartoon story drawing because it was simple enough to break things down and make them more understandable while still being able to convey a complex and important message. The drawings may be cute and capture the attention of the audience, but I hope that the auditory information to go along with it still makes an impact. I also believe that while coral bleaching is a devastating epidemic that illustrates the deteriorating state of our oceans, the use of cute cartoons to portray sea creatures gives me hope that people with appreciate the beauty of our planet and be inspired to take action in order to save it. Whether my audience is moved, sad, happy, ready to take action or just there to enjoy a short video about coral, I hope it makes a small impact on every person who watches it.
