Yeah the climate changing fast but we can stop it
Gotta operate step in to the cockpit
Take control of the whole world and we watch it
Stop burning and contorting like a mosh pit
Yeah that’s just the way that climate fighters gotta operate
Hop into a Tesla whip cause emissions not on my plate
Yeah we got the courage and the power we can advocate
For what we believe in
What we believe in
Yeah it goes on and on
Imma educate like my name was Khan
Oceans aren’t stopping and by 2070
Almost all of Florida is gonna see the penalty
But there’s still hope for us yet
I hop on a bike never jump on a jet
Yeah we got a challenge that much is set
In the stone we must preserve to call that challenge met
So stand up right now what you waiting for
There’s still hope for us
Just look out to shore
Don’t just sit on your couch and be a bore
It’s the earth that’s the planet that we adore
I go net zero on y’all deniers
Spread the word email not handing out flyers
Now I’m on this path can’t stop Mike Myers
Only flames from the song now let’s stop the fires
I go net zero on y’all deniers
Spread the word email not handing out flyers
Now I’m on this path can’t stop like Myers
Only flames from the song now let’s stop the fires
But there’s still hope for us yet
I hop on a bike never jump on a jet
Yeah we got a challenge that much is set
In the stone we must preserve to call that challenge met

My Song began with no true direction in mind. I make hip-hop instrumentals in my free time, and this one began like any other. As the beat came together, I remembered the Bow Seat contest. I have entered in the past, but never in the music category. The repetitive, ominous chords reminded me of big waves on stormy seas, and the overall vibe of the beat worked perfectly to create the song. However, I wanted a section of the song to inspire hope rather than just fear and sadness. So I made a second melody to replace the chords. This melody is in the same key, however has a much happier and more innocent progression of notes from a gentle plucked instrument. The more gentle section works in tandem with the lyrics, which focus on hope for our planet rather than it’s issues. I also included a clip of Greta Thunberg’s address because of her perspective on hope for our climate. Young people shouldn’t be the only ones speaking up. In times like these where tensions are at a high, the climate is easily forgotten or pushed to the side. However it is the responsibility of not only activists but politicians to continue conservation and elimination of fossil fuels.
