Reflection
This artwork grew out of moments when nature helped me reset - sketching birds when I felt stuck, or taking long runs in La Jolla’s parks after school. Feeling the ocean breeze and hearing the calls of local birds made me realize how quietly nature supports our well-being. That inspired me to feature San Diego’s bird species “flying” out of my sketchbook, symbolizing how creativity and the natural world are intertwined in my life. Working in Procreate let me blend different textures and styles to capture that sense of movement and connection. Exploring the theme made me see how deeply our health depends on the environment, and how even small encounters with nature—clean air, birdsong, shifting leaves - can bring clarity and calm. It also reminded me that this relationship is mutual: when we care for the environment, it can continue to care for us. My message is simple: creating spaces where wildlife and people can thrive benefits us emotionally, physically, and spiritually. A healthy world is essential for healthy humans.
