The idea of my work stems from my appreciation and love of traditional Chinese painting. The picturesque landscapes and natural sceneries commonly found in Chinese paintings are a source of inspiration for me. I use Procreate to combine traditional subjects with modern digital technology. I use Procreate because I can mimic the texture and brush strokes of Chinese ink paintings and use a variety of digital brushes to achieve a similar texture. My project is closely related to the theme "Connections to Nature: Looking Inside, Going Outside". I try to portray the contrast between nature and industrialization. In my artwork, there is a waterfall flowing through the composition - on one side, it is dirty and dark, showing the influence of industrial buildings and contemporary life. On the other side, it is clean and bright, showing untouched nature. This contrast symbolizes the hopes and dreams of the old man in the painting, who symbolizes our ancestors. He dreamed of a world where man and nature coexisted, but what we see today is the encroachment of pollution. Creativity calms me, makes me happy, and allows me to be more at peace with myself and the world. Through art, I can convey emotions and ideas that are sometimes difficult to put into words. Through this project, I have discovered the power of visual narrative. I hope that viewers who see my work will reflect on the impact of industrialization on nature and be inspired to keep our environment intact and appreciate the beauty of indigenous cultures.
