Echoes of Our Dying Creek
Joyce Cheung
Cupertino, CA
2024, Senior, Poetry & Spoken Word

A typewritten poem titled "Echoes of our Own Adventure" by an unknown author, featuring themes of nature, nostalgia, and creeks, displayed on a sheet of white paper. Text on a page focuses on themes of environmental restoration, hope, and future generations, with imagery of a thriving creek and a call to action for climate care.

Reflection
Reflection

In my hometown, climate change has led to frequent heat waves that have long diminished the water flow of our creeks and streams. I wish for my poem to depict the story of our dying creek and our joint-efforts as a community to revive our creek and ultimately save our environment. Our creek is a cherished gem in our neighborhood, and for as long as I can remember, it has provided a safe space to relax and connect with nature. However, I wanted to emphasize that with the increasing impact of climate change, future generations risk never experiencing its beauty. Through my poem, I wish to highlight the need for climate action and I hope to motivate others to join hands to protect our environment. I believe that together we can continue to preserve and restore nature for future generations to come.
