Reflection
This work was inspired by the everyday lights and electricity we use in our daily lives. On a more personal level, I remember going on trips to Las Vegas and seeing the beautiful lights they offer. As a young child I would love the dazzle and entertainment it brought me, but as I grew up I started to realize the amount of energy it used up. Awareness dawned that this "dazzle" had terrible effects on our climate. Electricity is a massive contribution to greenhouse gas emissions, resulting in the cycle of unsteady weather changes we see today. I wanted to be able to express this concern through my art piece as climate change is a significant problem in our modern world. With irregular temperatures, fires, and droughts, I strongly believe the amount of electricity usage should be further brought to attention. Through this artwork, I want viewers to feel the unnecessary lights and energy we use in our daily lives, because a light filled life today will lead to a darker turn in the long-run. Through simple actions like pulling out charging plugs when not in use, or turning off unneeded lights around the house can be great ways to start this journey towards a stable future.
