Reflection

The polar bear on the tightrope portrays the emotion of being in a tight line. As glaciers melt in the sea, the polar bear is moving to a bigger, safer one. While this might now seem like a minor problem, the irony behind the drawing is that people are watching this as if it were a circus or some type of show—as if they aren’t part of this crisis, and this isn’t reality. This ignorance compares to the reality of our unaware and unconcerned civilization today. Our planet is suffering, but for most of us, life still goes on. I wanted to aim at young audiences and hold up a mirror to show that this is the situation we are in right now. I hope that my piece will engage the audience while creating a sense of hope.
