Reflection
The idea for this piece came to me as I thought about how little time we get spend with nature in our busy lives. I was inspired by the feeling of pure bliss and contentment that I feel when I get to spend a fleeting moment in nature. Whether it is a stroll in a glowing, sunlit forest or a relaxing moment in a park, breathing in the wild air never fails to make me smile. As I was designing this piece, I came to the realization that there was only one song that could describe the wonderfully free feeling I was trying to convey: "Merry-go-round of Life" by the brilliant Joe Hisaishi. This lovely waltz makes me want to dance no matter what mood I am in. Creating this piece made me feel very seen with my expression of this feeling of joy I wanted to share. By exploring the theme of our Connections to Nature through this piece, I have learned that connecting with nature, in any form, allows us to let go of the stress of our crazy lives and enjoy living. I hope that the viewers of my artwork also take this as a sign to revisit nature and enjoy their lives, if only for an ephemeral moment.
