For millions of years, the Earth’s climate has been changing naturally on its own. However, in the past few centuries, human emissions and activities have sped up the process and induced drastic changes in different ecosystems, including the vast seas that cover over 70% of the globe. Inspired by Death Crowning Innocence, a piece by George Frederic Watts, I personified death as a graceful, skeletal angel cradling a polar bear cub. The polar bear symbolizes all marine life that has been endangered because of changes in climate that humans could be accountable for.
