Reflection
My family and I were always drawn to the ocean, traveling away from our landlocked city to various beaches. Each time I realized how the land and sea are not isolated but interdependent. Many people do not realize that our harmful practices, especially air pollution, impact life underwater and on land. Therefore, I included clips like the whale amid the clouds, turtles carrying memories, and a bird under the water to spread this message on the inherent connection between land and sea. Climate crisis can be averted if each individual starts taking sustainable and conscious decisions regarding energy sources and consumption patterns. Thus, I chose recent oil spills and spoke about its immediate casualties, Golae, Balena, and Kit. Though these all translate to 'whale,' I portrayed them as humans so that the viewers will feel directly threatened and willing to change. When people realize the ocean's intrinsic value, they will be inspired to take action; this isn't challenging to convey as the ocean is more wondrous than treasure itself.
