Reflection
At first, when thinking about what I wanted my subject of my art piece to be, I didn’t know where to begin. There are so many things we can do to help fight climate change, but I wanted to paint a subject that really made people learn something that maybe they didn’t know before. Through the articles on Bow Seat's website, I came across a piece explaining how whales capture a significant amount of CO2 during their lifetime. This taught me that while saving trees is very important, there are other ways to help the environment that aren’t being talked about enough. This inspired me to create a piece showing how whales have the power to create a healthier environment for all life on earth, and that there is hope for a better future in places we might not be looking. While creating this piece, I really felt appreciation for how perfectly nature’s ecosystems work and how one creature has such a huge impact on earth. I plan to continue to educate myself about ways to save our planet and try to minimize my carbon footprint in any way that I can, such as eating less meat and only using a car when necessary. This project gave me hope in knowing that there are still feasible ways to save the Earth.
