Helios Garden Festival
Joshua Ryu, Chloe Yoon, Jake Kwon, Emma Shim, and John Kim
Saratoga, CA
2025, Senior, Interactive & Multimedia

Project Description: Once the festival has concluded, we plan to install solar lights in senior homes to illuminate dark and hazardous areas, which can improve the safety of senior citizens. This initiative aims to create a lasting, meaningful impact by continuing to benefit the community even after the event has ended. Additionally, the festival will feature engaging activities such as quiz shows and music to enhance the overall experience and bring even more joy to the attendees. The entertainment coming from these activities allows the community to unify and for attendees to develop stronger connections among each other.

Reflection

The Helio’s Garden Festival is a mobile community festival that aims to show the beauty behind solar-lit festival spaces to underprivileged groups. We host events featuring beautiful solar lights for those facing financial and organizational concerns including low-income families, seniors, children, immigrants, and refugees in order to emphasize the future benefits behind utilizing renewable energy, and to provide them with the opportunity to experience the joy of solar energy in real life Through events such as solar-powered nighttime festivals, Earth Day celebrations, and seasonal community activities, our festival highlights the importance of sustainability and inspires participants to incorporate renewable energy into their daily lives. The festival collaborates with local businesses to create new opportunities and reinforce community connections, and large-scale events can foster community engagement and a greater awareness regarding sustainable energy. Overall, the Helios Garden Festival provides a surge of vitality to the surrounding community. It aims to reveal how small actions for the environment can lead to a brighter, greener, and more sustainable future for everyone.
