Hidden Life
Jakarta, Indonesia
2020, Junior, Performing Arts
Verse 1:
Deep down the ocean bed, lies the world of wonders.
Where the fishes dance, and the jellyfish gleaming.
A kaleidoscope, of beautiful colors.
And the coral reefs, are forever alluring.
Pre-chorus:
Hidden away, from eyes of man.
The life beneath the waves starts to fade away.
Chorus:
So, these corals slowly turn to black and grey.
We are destroyers, ones that reap but not sow.
Oh, oh
Verse 2:
As time passes by, the oceans start to die.
Our deadly waste, wounded this magical place.
We need to rise as one, take back what was done.
So let’s turn over this page, to make a wondrous change
Pre-chorus:
Hidden away, from eyes of man.
The life beneath the waves starts to fade away.
Chorus:
So, these corals slowly turn to black and grey
We are destroyers, ones that reap but not sow
Bridge:
This is a wake-up call, to break these walls.
And to do what is right, ‘cause this is our fight.
Chorus:
So, these corals slowly turn to black and grey
We are destroyers, ones that reap but not sow
Oh, Oh
Reflection
Our group’s performance goal and purpose were to raise awareness of a very important subject: coral bleaching and marine life. We wanted to raise awareness of the fact that coral reefs are being destroyed all over the world and how marine life is affected by it. We also wanted to express how we can still have hope and work together to save the corals. Through this song, we wanted to express the fact that if we have hope, there is still a chance we can restore the coral reefs and keep the marine life safe. We described the ocean as a lively and beautiful place that is full of mystery. However, that changed when humans started polluting the ocean and when the climate started to become hotter. We wanted to express that even though something feels impossible and irreversible, it can still be solved with determination and collaboration.
