Reflection
Since I was a young child, I have been captivated by the ocean and how it always seemed to change. One summer, my family and I visited the Galveston beach, and I was horrified by the amounts of plastic strewn everywhere. That’s when I knew I needed to help make a change. I started researching ocean pollution and climate change when I was in elementary school and gained a strong foundation of background knowledge. When I heard about an Ocean Awareness Contest being held, I just knew I had to take part in it to help raise awareness. Through partaking in this contest, I have learned so much more about the different causes of climate change, the effects it has on our oceans, and the possible solutions we can help kickstart. Creating this film helped me truly understand the urgency of the problem of climate change and inspired me to do all I could to help raise awareness. To those who watch my film, I encourage them to not only learn more about climate change, but to actually take action and follow the solutions I listed. If we all are able to take small steps towards eradicating climate change, all aspects of our planet will greatly improve. As our world shifts towards renewable energy sources, and as communities become more aware of climate change, my hope is restored.
