My mixed media collage art basically depicts two phases. The first phase at the bottom signifies the darkness that has prevailed over the ocean and its marine life. It also denotes plastic, industrial pollution, burning of fossil fuels and deforestation which eventually leads to acidification, increased CO2 levels, warmer oceans, the extinction of marine species, coral bleaching and overall climate change. The second phase at the top portrays a sunshine full of hope. The white girl in the center represents the hopeful human race whose ambition should be the revival of what is lost. Pure oceanic life is shown in the circle of life in the dream catcher since it's the need of the hour. Dreams come true if required efforts are taken at the international (protected coral triangle, joint research, etc.) individual (volunteering, the three R's, etc.) and national (oceanic villages, ocean friendly restaurants, etc.) levels. I found an article from the World Resources Institute very helpful as a guide for national and international efforts. Surely, these tiny efforts will contribute in bringing our ocean back to sunshine.
