On a vast land, many people have not explored underwater having close interaction with aquatic animals. Through my research, I have found SoFi, a robot fish created by MIT Scientists to study marine life within close proximity brought back memories of my journey when I explored an island in Singapore called Pulau Hantu “Ghost Island” with my family. On this island, we found different types of corals. Discovering SoFi swimming beside real fish and close to coral reefs inspired me to express my feelings with a self-choreographed dance and self-remixed music about the impact of climate change and living beneath waters. The entire choreography is divided into 3 parts. Awakening Depths: A Journey Begins A new life begins with the awakening of the mechanical fish SoFi, who suddenly gains self-awareness and emotions. Lively and cheerful dance movements express Sofi's excitement and curiosity about her brand-new adventure. Harmony Lost: The Solitude of SoFi Transitioning to slow and heavy movements, SoFi experienced a sense of loneliness and bewilderment when she noticed her friends begin to leave one by one. SoFi eventually learned that due to global warming, her fish friends had to migrate northward, hoping to find a suitable environment to live in. SoFi was determined to follow and help her friends. SoFi’s transformation through her movements became more purposeful, reflecting her sense of determination and responsibility. Resilient Echoes: SoFi's Call to Action On her journey up north, SoFi, with a great sense of responsibility, collected and passed information about aquatic life to human researchers through her fish-eye lens, hoping that humans would take action to help her marine friends affected by climate change. In the end, SoFi exhausted all her energy as she quietly sank to the bottom of the sea. Concluding a calm and noble atmosphere leaving the audience with profound reflection and emotional resonance. Through SoFi’s fish-eye lens, it presents the challenges faced by marine life due to climate change and emphasizes the interaction between technology and nature and our responsibility for environmental protection.
