IIO Impeachment Trial: Climate Change

Below is an official transcript of the most recent IIO meeting held in Washington D.C. You will read from three perspectives: 2021 UN President Abdulla Shahid, Eversor Securus, and Climate Change itself. At this time, the U.S. has become such a global superpower that any
force of legal action needed to impeach or elect officers and politicians in the American government requires the consent of the entire world, as referred to in the trial as “The New America.”
Transcript:
[UN President Abdulla Shahid] On this day, June 6th, 2022, the House of Representatives calls for the impeachment of Climate Change from the IIO (Important Issue in Office) Branch of the United Nations.
[American Representative Eversor Securus] Today, the people of New America find Climate Change guilty of multiple crimes, which include violation of personal freedom with the excuse of “environmental stability and hierarchy,” self-imposing themselves as the “last resort.” and causing the collapse of global economies and entire populations. Climate Change is an idea that is simply too vague and preposterous to sustain and should be removed.
[Nature] People of New America, this isn’t the first time I’ve stepped upon this pedestal, nor the first time I’ve been presented with resentment towards my ideals and promises, and it certainly won’t be the last. For those of you who are unaware of Climate Change’s so-called crimes, which led to its potential impeachment, allow me to inform you all.
My first crime was simple. In spite of the Earth’s population’s wishes, I provided the forests and grasslands of the land of the free with beautiful green grass, leaves, and towering trees. I took to the seas and provided color to an otherwise color-neutral environment through corals and colorful fish. I gave the savannahs their gazelles, their lions, and the occasional caracal or falcon. I allowed for the creation of environments such as rainforests, which contain 50% of the world’s animal species. That includes several species of tree frog, genus Eunectes, and Panthera. Members of the Senate, all I wanted to do was introduce New America to the colors of the natural world, thinking that it was in their best interest to protect what I created. However, my aspiration was misplaced in the New American Ideal.
[Eversor Securus] Objection! Climate Change has not provided the world with wonderful color and splendor! Those are all manmade resources created only by the hand of man. This kind of blasphemy is exactly why Climate Change should not be acknowledged!
[Nature] Eversor Securus, if I may, how have humans created the sort of balance that we all see in the natural world?
[Eversor Securus] Nature, it is simple. We as a society banded together to create various factories that produce the materials needed to provide our new society with the technology and resources to continue expanding and growing as a species. This is shown through the various nuclear power plants that litter the globe, about 393,048 to be exact.
[Nature] Nuclear plants that cut corners, I presume?
[Eversor Securus] Nature, with all due respect! Nuclear power plants are some of the most sophisticated and safe forms of energy and product production in the entire world.
[Nature] Then how do you, Eversor Securus, explain the notorious Chernobyl disaster of 1986? When something is put into the hands of humans, it always turns to ruin. This is further exemplified through the Seveso disaster and Montana Asbestos clouds. Humans as a species cannot be 100% accountable for the sustainability and stability that nature provides, which proves that your statement of the role of humans in nature-preserving is false. Humans need nature’s natural balancing system to stay alive. If humans continue to pollute the Earth and plunder its resources and cause climate change, eventually the planet won’t have any more resources to provide. Climate change should not be removed from the IIO, but rather it should be on the top of the list of concerns, for humanity’s sake!
[Eversor Securus] Nature, you seem to be forgetting the great effort it takes to take care of our planet. Shouldn’t the people of America be allowed to party, dance, and drink as they please? If America decides to “Go Green,” then New America becomes a source of dirt, grass, bugs, and all sorts of other nasty things. If we decide to remove climate change from the IIO, then New America can be exactly the same as Old America, just with higher obesity rates, bigger market crashes, and best of all, a lower standard of education! Climate change should be removed from the IIO.
Two weeks after the Eversor Securus vs. Nature trial, it is ruled that climate change be removed from the IIO. Soon, acid rain and areas of extreme heat known as “Sun Spots” began appearing in different areas and expanded to the rest of the world. Within 60 years, the Earth would revert back to its ashy, gray complexion.

Reflection
I was inspired to write this piece by the injustices against animal species and the complete lack of actual action against climate change. I wanted to combine the impeachment trials of several politicians, including the impeachment of Donald J. Trump, with my love for nature. The process of creating this art provoked feelings of anger and distress. My message to the viewers of this artwork is: "Do your part."
