I’m Sorry

I’m sorry
I’m sorry that
The world was asking for our help
But at home we just sat
Ice caps melting
And the bears were beggin’ us
To stop destroying their homes
But we told them just to shush
Faces filled with terror
Bangladeshis looked
As the sea swept away
Their home sweet homes
I won’t stand
No, I won’t stand for this at all
So get up, get off of your couches
And go educate yourselves y’all
Cause’ I…
I see a future where
Trees are found nowhere
Ooooaaaaa…
And bears…
rhinos, leopards everywhere
Only found somewhere
In the pages of a book
Isn’t it sad, we all think
That the world was on its very brink
And we all sat, phones in hands
Instagramming “save our land”
When we could’ve had it all
Reflection
My emotions and feelings inspired the lyrics of my song. Every lyric in the song truly represents my concerns. I am sorry. Sorry for the future generations who have to deal with the current generation's selfish mistakes. I am sorry about the thousands of animals going extinct, the extreme weather, the habitat destruction. Most importantly, I am sorry that I didn't do anything about it for such a long time. When writing this song, I realized that I was the person in my song--the one sitting on the couch all day, doing nothing whatsoever to help the environment. The process of creating this song raised self-awareness. Now I do everything in my ability to help save our precious planet.
