Reflection

Although there are many factors that cause climate change, the indifference of a large portion of the human population to do anything about it causes the continued relentless torment of our environment. Don't get me wrong, there ARE people who care: such as people who refuse to use plastic straws or bags, or people who host contests such as this one who bring awareness to the issue. Unfortunately, there are many people who are so self-absorbed in their own lives that they don't realize the immense amount of suffering our environment is going through. I pictured this issue through a very direct illustration that is pretty easy to understand and gets the point across. I drew a young girl in her teenage years, naive and oblivious to the chaos developing around her. Throughout the background, I drew multiple issues due to climate change, that deeply troubled me and don't seem to be improving at all. I illustrated this piece in hopes of making people self-aware, say "Hey, this kind of reminds me of myself," and reflect on the environment that currently has so many issues. People can help out just by taking the first step, sharing their worries about current issues with oblivious individuals and make them aware.
