Reflection

When I discovered this year’s theme for the Ocean Awareness contest, I immediately became excited and passionate about the project. Nature has always played a huge role in my raising and the person I am today. What inspired my ideas, work, and creativity for this project was the first question I read for the category “Healthy Environments, Healthy Humans,” and it was “How do you feel when you spend time in nature?” This question really allowed me to take a deep dive into what nature means to me. As I began to think, I thought about the park in my city, the Trinity River Trail. I’ve learned throughout this project that incredible things are tied to nature: community, joy, inspiration, unity, and so much more. And that’s what I hope the viewers receive from my work. Yes, we may live in a 4-wall house, but on a much broader scale we live in a beautiful world with beautiful nature, so go take advantage of it.
