Reflection

I heavily based my composition on the idea of intersectionality (a relatively new concept to me, but one that Isaias Hernandez has talked about at length), the belief that aspects of one's identity, such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, etc., are connected in societal systems, and should be considered as a whole. This idea is usually represented in the form of a Venn diagram, and I subtly incorporated that shape into my composition. Isaias Hernandez has spoken about evidence-based hope in the face of climate doomism, the idea that we, as a species, can change and are changing for the better. With media that seems to only focus on the bad, it can be hard to remain hopeful. But good things are happening in the climate movement, and good people are working to fix our broken systems. Apathy won't fix anything. We cannot give up.
