Reflection

In the process of planning my artwork for this competition, I envisioned the mutual feelings of anger and despair among animals that are endangered by humans’ destructive and malicious actions. In order to capture these feelings, I decided to make a propaganda poster of endangered animals declaring a rebellion against humans, inspired by George Orwell’s Animal Farm, which shares a similar story of farm animals staging a rebellion to escape their farm owner’s oppressive rule. Researching climate change and our oceans helped me truly understand how devastating our actions can be to life and habitats thousands of miles away from our homes. We do not consider the harm that our actions inflict on life all across the planet, and we can massively curtail this damage by making better decisions, such as using environmentally cleaner transports and products, adopting a more attentive mindset, and being politically active about climate change matters.
